Dr. Alice Riegert is a Bay Area native who believes that the human body can heal through movement along with a little professional guidance. Alice’s path to physical therapy began when she needed care of her own after years of back and hip pain resulting from over-training martial arts. Through her own PT sessions she was exposed to concepts like body mechanics, pain mechanisms and recovery. Discovering the art of physical therapy, she was eager to learn more in order to share her knowledge with her community. Alice believes in an individualized approach and tailors her treatment towards each of her patients in a unique and thoughtful way, valuing their lifestyle, time, and goals. With over 15 years of experience in various martial arts: capoeira, BJJ, and muay thai, she has a knack for analyzing movement patterns and is able to create a strategic plan for all her patients.

Alice is certified in PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) techniques and philosophy which allows her to use a hands-on approach to educate her patients on ideal movement and muscle activation. She has experience working with children and adults and is trained to effectively treat a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological injuries. She continues to work in a rehabilitative setting, aiding people recovering from strokes, spinal cord and other neurological injuries.

When not in the clinic you can find her teaching capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, to kids and adults in the East Bay. She travels internationally to participate in capoeira encounters and to teach injury prevention to martial artists. She also loves spending time with her three-year-old son and baby girl, baking pies, hiking with her cute pup and watching Ted Lasso with her husband.

Alice is passionate about serving and learning from a diverse community and is excited to guide you towards moving and feeling better!
